Our Story
In September of 2014 we heard of a local family whose husband was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. We wanted to help so we decided to put our BBQing skills to the test and see where it takes us. We arranged to BBQ chicken legs and had some churches and friends help supply the rest of the meal. We were so blessed by the generosity of people's help. We served chicken meals for 3 evenings in a row due to the overwhelming response. From this event we had people start asking when we are going to BBQ chicken again. We did a few fun events with our church serving up a southern BBQ.
It was becoming evident that there was a market in the BBQ business. Smokin Q was registered in 2016 and incorporated in 2023. We served at the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival, the International Plowing Match, and multiple local fundraisers. Our Elmira location opened in Summer of 2020 and Wallenstein in November 2021. In winter of 2022, we purchased the assets of a catering company and are now able to cater a variety of events.
